Form for direct donations for Sussex Historic Churches Trust Ride + Stride participants and/or churches Ride + Stride Ride + Stride donation form Thank you for taking part in Ride + Stride 2025. As you probably know, half of all the money you have raised will go to a place of worship of your choice. The other half goes to the Sussex Historic Churches Trust to help support other historic places of worship in need. Please choose how you wish to donate: OPTION 1 Collect all your sponsorship money together and donate it directly to your nominated church. They will pass on 50% to the Sussex Historic Churches Trust. OPTION 2 Complete the donation form below. If you don't have a particular place of worship in mind, then choose "No specific place of worship" in the dropdown box. If you are nominating a particular place of worship, select the "My nominated place of worship" in the dropdown box and give us the tell us the name/address of the place of worship in the comment section below. This will enable us to ensure that your nominated place of worship receives 50% of the funds you have raised. The importance of Gift Aid! Online Grant Application Form for churches seeking support for urgent repair & restoration from the Sussex Historic Churches Trust Online Grant Application Form The Sussex Historic Churches Trust awards grants to assist places of worship of all faiths within East and West Sussex. Grants are confined to works of essential repair to the fabric of the church building which must be at least 100 years old. The Trust meets twice a year, in Spring and Autumn; the dates for 2026 are April 10 and September 18. The deadline for submitting applications is two weeks before each meeting. Please ensure you submit applications well before you begin work and as soon as your architect has been appointed and a builder's estimate accepted. Guidance notes and required documents Please download our comprehensive guidance notes before filling out the online Grant Application Form below. Please also ensure you have all required documents available in digital format (eg jpg, PDF) ready to upload. These should include: the latest set of accounts a copy of faculty or equivalent authorization for other denomination photographs showing general view of the church, externally and internally your architect’s/surveyor’s letter confirming a) the need for work and urgency b) Tender costs obtained based on specifications and drawings. Info for Ride + Stride participants raising funds for Sussex churches Ride + Stride Ride + Stride is an annual event that that raises more than £1.5 million for churches right across the country. It plays a vital role in our fundraising and you don't need to be a churchgoer to take part! Funds raised are shared equally between the Trust and a specific place of worship if nominated by the participant. In 2026, Ride + Stride is taking place on Saturday, September 12 from 9am to 5pm. Our goal is to have at least places of worship take part next year. Where to start! 1. Register If you're raising money for a particular church, let them know. You can get sponsored for doing anything! Walk, cycle, ride, jog or even drive between the churches you visit – or get sponsored for doing anything else you fancy on Ride + Stride day. Click here to download the sponsorship form. Friends and family can sponsor you per church visited or by a one-off donation. If you're volunteering at a church, why not get sponsored for the number of hours you are helping out. 2. Arrange Sponsorship You can either: a) collect your payments personally to pass onto your local church. They will transfer 50% to the Sussex Historic Churches Trust or b) if you are not raising funds for a specific church, you can donate online directly using our Ride + Stride donation page . Here is some advice to riders and walkers It is a condition of entry that the SHCT, save to the extent required by law, accepts no responsibility in respect of death, injury or damage caused by or to any participant during the sponsored event. All entrants under 16 must have their parents’ consent. Police advise all cyclists to ride in single file. If any group contains more than six riders, please leave a suitable gap between the groups so as to not inconvenience motorists. Please study the cycling section of the Highway Code , and make sure your machine is roadworthy before setting out. Brakes and tyres are particularly important. If possible, wear bright clothing with a fluorescent band and safety helmets. When you leave your bicycle, please lock it for safety. Any horse riders must have their own personal insurance.
